Six Magic Rituals For When You’re Healing From Grief

Grief can be tormenting and overwhelming, bringing us through complicated emotions, insights, and sadness. It happens in many forms, whether losing a loved one, a pet, or even experiencing the loss of your childhood, location, or self.

It is a loss or the end of many things.

It can come in when we are undergoing a massive life transformation. We are forced to let go of things that used to be a part of our identity, to suddenly not be a part of us anymore.

When we lose a part of ourselves, we are often faced with sadness, sorrow and loss because we know we can no longer be that person.

Grief can come when we heal from trauma since even the shame, resentment and disappointment of what could have resulted in traumatic experiences instead. This would have felt like a waste of time, a wrong choice, a sacrifice to our true selves.

Grief can lead to anger, guilt, shame, shock, exhaustion, and depression. It can lead to sudden anxiety and aches and pains in the body. Grief is experienced differently by everyone.

Though often, time is the best healer. No person grieves within the same length as another; everyone has their own time, as it takes patience, self-compassion and nourishment.

Magic can teach you to move past the grief. You may never forget, but you can replace the pain with hope and happy memories. Here are six magical rituals for healing from grief to help you through the process and guide you to tune into your body, mind, and soul.

1. Positive Affirmations

“Though I may not understand it now, Everything happens for a reason. I am not afraid to feel my pain. My life is for living; I am meant to thrive and be alive. I am allowed to grieve. My life is precious, and I am learning. I am important, and I deserve an abundant life. With just a thought, I can remember. I choose to Love with every memory.”

Above is a cheerful affirmation poem I developed that can help change how you think about your situation. Naturally, you can create what works for you. The goal is to make positive statements that relieve you of your shame, guilt or any other pain-body you attach to through grief.

2. Happy Daily Ritual

The goal of this ritual is to do something daily for yourself that makes you happy. It helps to write down something that brings a smile to your face and then seek out what gives you instant gratification. This could be your favourite food, drink, location, or activity. But even a light effort towards what makes you smile can make a huge difference in your healing process. When writing, include a positive thought about yourself.

If grieving a person, write your favourite memory.

The goal is to create one task a day that brings a smile to your face.

3. Herbal Teas

Here is a list of herbal teas that can help soothe grief when drunk;

Orange
Cloves
Lavender
Black Tea
Cardamon
Lemon

Focus on using loose-leaf tea herbs to create a more soothing effect. You can combine a few, such as Black tea with Lemon or Orange or Lavender with Lemon and Cloves. Including one of these Herbal teas can help you through your grieving process.

4. Incense and Essential Oils

Incense and Essential Oils come in all sorts of herbal fragrances. They smell divine and often can soothe your soul. The scents can evoke your emotions and are often used in spellwork or rituals. You can create multiple types of blends to change your mood. Examples include orange, Lemon, Lavender, Sandalwood, Sage, and peppermint.

5. Crystals and Meditation

Crystals hold energy and, when charged, can be used in rituals, create magical spells, and through meditations. You can even carry them everywhere you go to magnify the state you want to feel at that moment. Some types of crystals for grief include:

Amethyst dispels grief and sadness.
Aquamarine
helps to release grief and pain.
Malachite:
Heals the heart chakra and allows entire grievance.
Larimar:
Brings happiness, peace and joy.
Rose quarts:
Heals the heart chakra, bringing out emotions and opening up your heart.

6. A Spell to Let go of Grief

Reminding ourselves that Death is not the end is an excellent way to release grief. It is a process of change and transformation. In nature, what dies breeds new life. A perfect example is plants and trees. When they shed leaves in the winter, their ashes burry into the soil, and new roots are often born again in the spring. Below is a spell that can help dispel grief.

Take some seeds of your favourite herbs or flowers. If you have dead leaves from the flowers or herbs, you can bury them in the soil and use them in your spell. Hold the seeds in your hands, close your eyes and say:

“I am letting go, releasing my grief. Liberated emotions will now transform and grow. I am Free to part with, to cope with these seeds.”

Fill your pot with soil, and sprinkle the seeds on top, lightly covering them with soil. Then water the pot plant and say:

“Buried and hidden, my grief will not show. Behind the soil, these emotions transmute and evolve. Happy flowers/ herbs from these seeds will now grow.”

It’s going to take some time.

Processing a loss can be difficult, and it is essential to note that it takes time. Everyone heals at their own pace, and you are encouraged to give your self-compassion as you mourn through the process. If you need more nourishment, refer to these six magical rituals to guide you through healing from grief.
